World Sustainable Development Summit 2026

Silver Jubilee Edition - Building the Future Together

The 2026 edition of the World Sustainable Development Summit (WSDS) marks the Silver Jubilee of this milestone event, taking place February 25-27, 2026, at the Taj Palace, New Delhi. Born in 2001 as the Delhi Sustainable Development Summit—a pioneering platform for the Global South that placed climate justice and equity at the center of the global agenda—WSDS has evolved over 25 years into a convergence point for Heads of State, Nobel Laureates, and youth leaders, translating intent into implementation through transformative campaigns and circular economy approaches.

Why Attend

The world faces deeply interconnected challenges requiring long-term vision, diverse perspectives, and value-driven approaches to drive transformations essential for sustainable development and climate action. According to the first Global Stocktake, achieving ambitious temperature goals requires a 43 percent emissions reduction by 2030, while current nationally determined contributions will result in only a 2 percent reduction. In the Sustainable Development Goals mid-point review, only 13% of 169 targets are on track, while 18% aren't even being tracked—highlighting gaps in both implementation and data needed to inform progress.

Summit Context and Legacy

Over 25 years, WSDS has shaped historic discussions from Rio to Paris, serving as a catalyst empowering the next generation while nudging corporates toward climate action. Grounded in grassroots realities, the Summit has launched transformative initiatives like Lighting a Billion Lives and mainstreamed circular economy approaches. Today, we stand at a historic crossroads: the Silver Jubile edition arrives as the world confronts towering cities built on fragile foundations, global connection alongside planetary disconnection, and the urgent need to amplify unheard voices.

Summit Vision

This is not a time for passive hope, but for bold vision. We must rediscover the values that define our shared survival. The 25th edition of WSDS brings together leaders, changemakers, and practitioners to address the paradoxes defining our era—recognizing that the future is not a destination we arrive at, but a world we build together through collective action, inclusive dialogue, and transformative implementation.

What to Expect

This historic Silver Jubilee edition convenes Heads of State, Nobel Laureates, youth leaders, corporate executives, and grassroots practitioners in New Delhi for three days of substantive dialogue on accelerating sustainable development and climate action. Grounded in climate justice and equity principles that have defined WSDS since inception, the Summit addresses implementation gaps while charting pathways forward through bold vision, diverse perspectives, and value-driven approaches essential for achieving global sustainability goals.
