Deep Dive

I’m proud to share a defining milestone in our company’s journey.

We were AuditBoard. Now we are Optro.

This is more than a new name. Optro represents who we’ve become and where we’re headed next. From the very beginning, our founders, Daniel Kim and Jay Lee, had a clear vision. As former internal auditors who lived the daily challenges of the profession, they set out to build cutting-edge solutions for practitioners, by practitioners.

What began as a dedicated tool for SOX compliance has grown into a robust platform prepared for the agentic future of risk management across disciplines. From internal audit and cybersecurity to third-party risk and AI governance, our name now conveys the scale of enterprise risk we help solve for today.

AuditBoard reflected our origins; Optro underscores our commitment to providing innovative technology for all of GRC. This is a bold new chapter for our team and the customers who’ve been there with us every step of the way. I’m fired up to see what we build together, and even more inspired to transform risk into opportunity alongside you.

What Optro Means

“Optro” signifies the clarity, intelligence, and momentum our platform provides.

We are living in an era where risk complexity is increasing faster than enterprises can manage at scale. The AI data explosion and expansion of tech ecosystems have fundamentally changed the pace at which new risks emerge.

This is where Optro comes in.

Optro illustrates what our platform enables: a single, coherent view across audit, risk, infosec, and compliance. We chose this name because our job is more than just managing risk; it is about helping you see risk before it happens so you can transform that insight into opportunity.

Optro’s mission is to redefine GRC through a single, AI-powered system of action. While our brand is evolving, our commitment to empowering customers to navigate complexity with precision remains unchanged.

“To me, Optro symbolizes the words that have always inspired GRC professionals: opportunity, optimizing, and optical. It signifies the visibility and clarity needed to navigate an era of hyper-volatility. Optro’s the system of action enterprises rely on to transform risk into opportunity," said Richard Chambers, Strategic Advisor, Risk & Audit, Optro

The system of action for agentic GRC

Legacy governance, risk, and compliance solutions were designed as systems of record—but the future belongs to agentic systems of action.

Enterprise risk doesn’t operate within isolated workflows, and modern GRC professionals shouldn’t either. Supply chain volatility reverberates across the enterprise, reshaping compliance obligations in real time. Cybersecurity incidents escalate into regulatory exposure. AI introduces governance questions that didn’t exist a year ago—or even six months ago.

Across the first, second, and third lines, Optro is the first GRC platform built for agentic autonomy from the data model up. Moving beyond static workflow tools, Optro enables trusted and accountable agents to proactively surface emerging threats and address control failures at the velocity modern enterprises require.

In a landscape of fragmented data, Optro enables a coherent view of enterprise risk where issues surface earlier, connections become visible, and decisions are grounded in truth.

“This platform has always been a differentiator for us. By automating manual 'grunt work' with AI, our team has been able to focus on strategic work. Optro embodies what the platform delivers: a seamless, all-in-one system that turns complex data into clear, actionable insights," Melissa Pici, Global Director, GRC stated.

Welcome to the next era of GRC

Optro isn’t just a new name.

While our founding roots are in internal audit, we’ve spent years taking our practitioner-led focus and applying it across the entire risk ecosystem.

Over the past decade, we have meaningfully expanded the capabilities of our platform. We introduced AI-powered solutions, helped GRC practitioners strengthen their role as strategic advisors, and expanded our offerings to meet the changing needs of teams in today’s dynamic risk environment.

In the months ahead, customers will see continued innovation in AI and agentic GRC. While our name has evolved, our foundation remains solid. We are still built by GRC practitioners, for GRC practitioners. We remain committed to helping audit, risk, compliance, and infosec teams operate with clarity and confidence.
