"BfDI Assesses GDPR as a European Model of Success in Ensuring Improved Data Protection Enforcement"

The BfDI, the Federal Commissioner for Data Protection and Freedom of Information has assessed the GDPR as a successful European model which guarantees improved enforcement. This regulation has set new standards in Europe which are becoming increasingly adopted world-wide. In order to ensure continued success, the BfDI has identified future challenges such as the need for faster processing in cross-border cases to create legal certainty and the need for producer liability when it comes to data protection, especially when AI systems are used.
