Empowering Military Spouses: FINRA Foundation Launches Latest Fellowship Program

By

The FINRA Investor Education Foundation and Association for Financial Counseling and Planning Education (AFCPE) are partnering to expand a program that offers specialized financial counseling guidance to military personnel and their families. Through the joint fellowship, the two organizations will be equipping military spouses with the skills needed to help bolster the financial readiness of their communities in an effort to combat un- or underemployment among them and offer tools to face frequent financial challenges linked to frequent moves and deployments. Since 2006, more than 680 military spouses have achieved Accredited Financial Counselor (AFC) certification with help from the FINRA Foundation. Together they have provided financial counseling and education to over 260,000 service members or their families, while dedicating more than 540,000 hours to aiding military families around the globe in attaining their financial goals. The newest class of fellows joining this program is set to receive support in their certification process as well as access to a passionate community of AFC professionals.
