SEC Appoints Stephanie Allen as Director of Media Relations and Speechwriting

By

The Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) announced the appointment of Stephanie Allen as Director of Media Relations and Speechwriting, effective Oct. 1, 2023. Ms. Allen had been serving as the agency's Director of Speechwriting and Senior Adviser to the Chair since March 2023 and follows Aisha Johnson, who had recently departed the SEC. Chair Gensler believes Ms. Allen's experience in media relations will greatly benefit the SEC's efforts to communicate its mission with the public. Before joining the SEC, Ms. Allen was Executive Director at the Ludwig Institute for Shared Economic Prosperity, Director of Strategic Communications and Marketing at Promontory Financial Group, an IBM Company, and had worked for two Senators before that. She holds an M.A. from the University of Texas at Austin, a B.A. from Emory University. Ms. Johnson held a B.A. from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, and had previously been a communications advisor on Capitol Hill, National Press Secretary in the office of U.S. Senator Bob Casey (D-PA), and Press Secretary for the Senate Special Committee on Aging.
